Lopar is the most famous tourist resort on the island of Rab. It is 12 km away from the administrative center, the town of Rab. Lopar is surrounded by numerous bays and sandy beaches, 22 of them, 3 of them are nudist (Stolac, Sahara, Ciganka). The largest of these beaches is well-known Paradise Beach. It is more than 1500m long and since year 2003 is the holder of the international Blue Flag. Along this beach is a tourist resort and auto-camp called San Marino. Lopar is also known by it's underwater cave Medova Buza, residence of the Mediterranean monk seal. As a special attraction, in this cave are organized weddings. With it's natural beauties, Lopar offers a range of sports and entertainment facilities such as soccer, handball, basketball, mini-golf, tennis, beach volleyball, jet skiing, surfing, scuba diving, water slide, discos and terraces with live music... guided excursions with glass bottom boat to nearby islands Grgur and Goli, panoramic tours, fishing... The island of Rab is one of the most beautiful islands in the Adriatic. It is located on the northern Adriatic Sea as part of the Kvarner archipelago. The island has about 9500 inhabitants, mostly engaged in tourism, agriculture, fisheries and animal husbandry. Thanks to the mild Mediterranean climate, featuring warm summers and mild winters, Rab is almost year round green. There are 7 smaller settlements on the island: Barbat, Banjol, Supetarska Draga, Palit, Kampor, Mundanije, Lopar and the town of Rab. Center of the island is more than 2000 years old town Rab, known by it's four towers, medieval streets and numerous churches. |
